Quick Answer: You probably are hearing your spirit guides. You may simply not be listening in the language they are using to communicate with you. Some people hear. Some feel. Some see. Some dream. Some simply know. Others receive pings through music, television, people, synchronicities, physical sensations, or things appearing repeatedly in their reality. Your task is to figure out how your guides are already talking to you.

“Lisa, I’ve Done Everything and I Still Can’t Hear My Guides”
Over the years, I’ve had so many students come to me and say:
“Lisa, I have done everything.”
I’ve taken classes.
I’ve meditated.
I’ve read books.
I’ve watched YouTube videos.
I’ve studied Reiki.
And somehow, I still can’t hear my spirit guides.
I still don’t feel intuitive.
The first thing I want to tell you is that everybody has their own intuitive abilities.
Some people hear.
Some people feel.
Some people have visions.
Some people dream.
Some people just have a knowingness.
Some people taste things.
Some people have an entire series of synchronicities.
Some people hear words and pings through other people, music, television, billboards, or things happening around them.
There is no limit to how intuition can communicate with you.
I have heard so many different stories and so many different intuitive abilities throughout my life, and every time I hear a new one, I’m still in wonder.
I absolutely love it.

You Have Your Own Psychic Filter
I possess a little bit of everything intuitively.
I believe one reason for that is because it allows me to meet my students where they are.
I can say:
Oh! This is what you’re doing. This is how I think you’re receiving it.
Then we can start collecting evidence.
That is one of my favorite things about the way I teach.
Everything I do is evidence-based.
It’s not just a bunch of hooey.
I want my students to collect evidence that they are intuitive.
I want them to know when they are succeeding.
Because when you have evidence, it becomes much harder to convince yourself that you imagined everything.

One of My Students Thought He Couldn’t Hear His Guides
I recently had a student who was having one of those doubting moments.
He didn’t think he was intuitive.
He didn’t think he had the abilities.
Which made me laugh a little because he is naturally very intuitive, practices every day, and does fantastic work.
One day, he was somewhere when a woman who was a hairdresser came in and said she was having a panic attack.
He suddenly had this strong, overwhelming, visceral urge to open his mouth and say:
“Can I just do some Reiki on you for maybe ten minutes?”
So he asked.
She said yes.
He sat down and channeled Reiki for about ten minutes.
She cried.
She breathed.
And he described this incredible transformation.
He walked away thinking:
Maybe I can do this.
Of course he can!
Reiki is a teachable skill.
He learned it.
He knows how to do it.
Now he is applying it.

Who Do You Think Told Him to Offer Reiki?
Later, he was in one of my classes and said:
“I really want to hear my spirit guides.”
And I simply asked him:
Who do you think gave you that overwhelming pressure in your body?
Who gave you that visceral urge that said:
I need to help her. I need to say something right now.
That may have been exactly how his guides were communicating with him.
So my answer to the question “Why can’t I hear my guides?” is often:
You probably are hearing them.
You’re just not listening in the language they are communicating with you.
Your task is to figure out what that language is.

Your Guides May Not Speak to You in Words
This is where people can get stuck.
They are waiting for a voice.
Maybe you will hear a voice.
But maybe you won’t.
Your spirit guides might communicate through:
Dreams.
Physical sensations.
Pressure changes in your body.
High-pitched ringing.
Taste.
A wave of energy.
A sudden knowingness.
A song.
A name you keep hearing.
A conversation happening beside you.
Something on television.
A billboard.
Repeated numbers.
Repeated experiences.
Synchronicities.
That overwhelming feeling that says:
Do this.
Call this person.
Go there.
Say something.
Pay attention.
Your guides may already be working very hard to get your attention.

Dreams Are One of the Ways My Guides Communicate With Me
My guides communicate with me in many different ways.
One of those ways is through dreams.
I keep a dream journal beside my bed.
I also have a little red-light pen so I can write things down when I wake up without completely waking myself up.
I wake up multiple times during the night.
I check the energy climate of my room.
My house.
Myself.
My spouse.
The people connected to me.
And if I’ve had a dream, I write it down.
A lot of times I don’t understand what the dream means in the middle of the night.
Then I read it in the morning.
And suddenly I understand.
That is another language my guides use with me.

My Guides Also Communicate Through My Body
I receive high-pitched rings.
Feelings.
Sensations.
Tastes in my mouth.
Pressure changes.
Sometimes it feels like I’m being pulled 50 feet underwater and suddenly there is pressure around me.
Sometimes a wave moves across my body.
Not every sensation is pleasant.
Not every wave is pleasant.
And not everybody connected to me or broadcasting toward me has beautifully cleaned, aligned energy.
This is exactly why I am always pressing energy hygiene.
You have to know what is yours.
You have to understand your energetic field.
You need to know the difference between your own intuitive information and something you are picking up from somebody else.

Pay Attention to Synchronicities
Synchronicities are another huge way my guides communicate with me.
Recently, somebody told me their passport had expired.
Okay.
Then two days later, another person told me she needed to fly somewhere to have her passport renewed.
Interesting.
Then the next day, I was scheduling with a student who lives in Sweden.
She told me:
“I need to drive to Stockholm to renew my passport.”
Three passport conversations within four or five days.
You can run the mathematical odds on that.
That is difficult to replicate accidentally.
That is a ping.
That is a synchronicity.

But the Message May Not Be Literal
Those passport synchronicities did not mean:
Lisa, check your passport.
My passport was fine.
They also weren’t telling me I needed to travel.
For me, those repeated events were mile markers.
I already had information coming through my dreams, my body, and my general knowingness that a huge change was coming into my life.
I had a whole bunch of irons in the fire and was right on the precipice of major life changes.
The passport synchronicities felt like my guides saying:
We’re with you.
It’s very close now.
That is how synchronicities work for me.
Your language may be completely different.

Start Asking Yourself How You Already Know Things
How do you know when something is about to happen?
Do you dream about it?
Do you suddenly hear the same name everywhere?
Does the same song keep playing?
Do you repeatedly have similar experiences?
Do people randomly begin talking about something you were just thinking about?
What happens in your body before something good is coming?
What happens before something challenging is coming?
What evidence have you already collected?
This is where I want you to become a student of yourself.

Track Yourself
I am a life coach first and foremost, and I believe strongly in tracking yourself.
I have been journaling since I was nine years old.
I very rarely go back and reread everything I write, but I am constantly recording my thoughts.
I especially love going back and reading predictions I made about my own life.
Sometimes I’m down to the day.
And I love that!
Because even though I have been doing intuitive work for decades, I still need evidence too.
I continuously collect evidence.
It fortifies my belief system.
It strengthens my relationship with my spirit guides.
It helps me recognize:
Yes. I knew that.
Yes. That was a ping.
Yes. That was intuition.

Community Can Help You Learn Your Intuitive Language
One of my biggest suggestions is to surround yourself with like-minded people.
If you are the only person in your world exploring intuition, it can be much harder to understand the language your guides are using.
You need an environment where you can say:
“This happened to me.”
And somebody else can say:
“That happens to me too!”
I hear this constantly in my classes.
One student will say:
“I hear my guides this way.”
And suddenly somebody else says:
“I do too!”
Or someone talks about a dream, and another person had almost the exact same experience.
This is one of the reasons community is so valuable.
It gives you a place to explore without worrying that somebody is going to judge you.
And it gives you evidence.

Your Spirit Guides Are Talking to You
Your guides are talking to you.
What they are saying, I cannot tell you exactly.
But they are communicating with you.
So begin checking in with yourself.
Ask:
When have I known something before it happened?
Where did I feel it in my body?
Did I hear something?
Did I see something?
Did I dream it?
When did I dream it?
What happened afterward?
What synchronicities appeared?
Write it down.
Track it.
Collect evidence.
I bet that in no time, you will begin developing and cultivating a much stronger relationship with your spirit guides.
Because you may discover something wonderful:
They were talking to you all along. You just needed to learn their language.
