Can’t Feel Reiki? Try This

Quick Answer: If you can’t feel Reiki yet, it doesn’t mean you can’t channel it. Often, people are thinking so hard about whether Reiki is working that they aren’t allowing themselves to simply feel the experience. Relax your body, focus on the flow rather than trying to prove it is there, and pay attention to subtle sensations such as warmth, tingling, vibration, pressure, or even a sensation in only one hand. With practice, recognizing Reiki can become much easier.

“What If I Can’t Feel Reiki?”

I talked with a new student this week who was struggling to feel Reiki.

She is a massage therapist, and she had started wondering if maybe she simply couldn’t do it.

I told her:

Yes, you can.

I have taught thousands of students over the years, and I have found that students can learn to recognize and feel Reiki. Sometimes we simply have to get out of our heads long enough to notice what we are feeling.

Start by Clearing Your Arms

Before you begin, try sweeping off your arms.

I personally find that being around electronics can leave me feeling energetically uncomfortable, particularly around my arms and hands. Even something as simple as a watch can sometimes feel like it interferes with the way I perceive energy moving.

Reiki wants to move through your body. If you feel energetically blocked or distracted, clearing yourself first may make it easier to recognize the sensations.

Bring Your Attention to Your Sacral Chakra

Place your thumbs into your belly button with your hands below it.

Then slide your thumbs downward slightly and allow your hands to cradle your Sacral Chakra.

Relax.

Drop your shoulders.

Breathe.

One of the biggest things I see with beginners is that they are thinking about Reiki instead of feeling Reiki.

Is it working?
Am I doing this correctly?
Why don't I feel anything?
What am I supposed to feel?

All of that thinking can make it harder to notice what your body is actually experiencing.

Follow the Reiki Flow

Think, feel, and imagine Reiki coming into the top of your head.

As you breathe, allow your shoulders to relax and imagine Reiki flowing down through your body and all the way to the center of the Earth.

Feel yourself connect with the Earth.

Then feel the energy coming back up through your body and out through the top of your head.

Next, become aware of Reiki flowing out through your right hand and into your left hand.

Don't force yourself to feel something.

Just observe.

What Does Reiki Feel Like?

Reiki doesn't necessarily feel the same for everyone.

You might notice:

  • Heat or warmth
  • Tingling
  • Vibration
  • Pressure or stiffness
  • Pulsing
  • Sensation in only one hand
  • Sensation in only part of a hand
  • Other physical or intuitive responses that become recognizable to you over time

For me, I often burp and my ears become red when I channel Reiki. Those are two of the personal physical responses I've learned to recognize.

Your signs may be completely different.

Try This Simple Reiki Exercise

Keep one hand on your Sacral Chakra and hold your other hand outward.

Feel Reiki moving through you and out through your hand.

Then switch your awareness.

Place one hand on your Sacral Chakra and hold your other hand toward me on the screen while practicing along with one of my online trainngs, or YouTube videos during the Psychic Puzzle visualization.

Reiki transcends space and time, which is why we can practice Remote Healing rather than needing to be physically together.

Practice with me until you begin recognizing the sensations for yourself.

It Gets Easier With Practice

In the beginning, you may need to consciously focus on the Reiki flow.

That's okay.

As you become familiar with it, you won't necessarily need to walk yourself through every step. Eventually, it may become as simple as thinking:

“Reiki on.”

And allowing it to flow.

I also find that we often practice better around people who are motivated and energetically elevated. When I worked with this student, I created a baseline frequency for her to resonate with while she practiced.

Once she stopped trying so hard to figure out Reiki and began allowing herself to experience it, she could begin recognizing what was happening.

Reiki Has Its Own Consciousness

One of the beautiful things about Reiki is that you don't have to micromanage it.

It goes where it needs to go.

I also believe Reiki mixes with the energetic essence of the person channeling it. Over time, becoming familiar with different energetic signatures can become part of developing your psychic and intuitive awareness.

So if you can't feel Reiki right away, don't decide that you can't do it.

Practice. Relax. Feel instead of analyze.

Sometimes the Reiki was there all along—you were simply learning how to recognize it.
